WW - Rolex Oyster Perpetual "John Bull" Air King, ref 5500, circa 1978, 34mm x 39mm to lug tips, 19mm lug width, original stainless steel screw back Oyster case with an aftermarket hand executed bark texture finish to lugs, stainless steel Oyster bracelet signed Rolex with matching bark texture finish, original black glossy dial with applied silver indices, 17J cal 1520, s#5487699, triple signed with signed clasp, bracelet ref 78350-19 with 557 end links, inside back ref 1002. A tremendously odd watch with an odd finish, John Bull of the Bahamas was known to finish Rolex models in this manner, with several Datejust, Submariner and GMT models surfacing, a great peak back in time to when this was the height of cool!
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, no oxide, rotor with discoloration on outer edge; nearly flawless dial with very light surface spotting; excellent hands; lightly polished case with hand etched finish shows little wear, light dings on the backs of the lugs from being worn on a bracelet; bracelet shows hardly any wear, little stretch; Rolex signed crown shows very little wear, good threads; good plastic crystal; resealed for auction.
